The Harry Potter Books
Honestly?? I am such a bookworm that I would prefer to read the books over the films. Sure, the films are nice, but books make me feel like I’m literally right there in the world with them instead of peering overhead at them. There is so many details in the books that weren’t incorporated in the movies. People miss out the important parts being revealed if they were to watch the movies only. :] I am currently re-reading the first book in the series to see if I can tweak some ideas out of the book for this blog! Whoopee-doo for having free time! xx
Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows
This is one of my favorites like I mentioned on Day one but this one I dislike greatly because it represents the ‘end’ of a saga. I also bawled the most during this book. [chuckles] :] A lot of people died in this book and I hate hate hate hate it when people die. 😦 I was so ecstatic when Harry came back to life after being killed by Voldemort. I am really glad that I grew up with this saga and the magic just made it a little more real for me lol ❤
The abilities consists of: Animagi transformation, Metamorphmagi, Parseltongue, Flying, Seers, Legilimency and Occlumency, Apparition and Disapparition, Veela charm, or Magical resistance. This was difficult to find a picture of but my favorite magical ability would be Apparition and Disapparition. 🙂 Just like a driver’s license, you have to have a license to apparate. (From Harry Potter wiki) -One must be at least seventeen (17) years old to obtain such a licence. Lessons in Apparition are available, for an additional charge, to students who are or will be of legal age when the next test is administered. This is similar to muggle schools where road instruction for driving licences is available, but at an additional charge. While it is physically possible to apparate without a licence, it is not advisable, because injury could result. Splinching can occur when one has insufficient determination to reach one’s goal, causing certain body parts to fail to arrive at the destination with the wizard.- The only reason why I picked this over Metamorphmagi is because right now I’m pretty stuck without a car if both grandparents decided to use both vehicles and the ability to apparate would be fantastic for me to know. Besides, there’s always somewhere I want to be. I’d have to request an experienced wizard/witch to be able to apparate to another continent if I needed to go over there really quick. This doesn’t apply to the UK to Europe since it’s separated by 30 miles over the English Channel. :] The ability to apparate could wreck havoc with criminal rates bolting upwards. However, I’m hoping that the Ministry of Magic has a way to track down criminals who use the apparition method right after commiting a crime. [chuckles] Yep, that’s it for today!
McGonagall, Snape and Lupin
Professor Minerva McGonagall, Professor Severus Snape and Professor Remus Lupin. They’re my favorite professors because they’re interesting to work and learn from. Especially Lupin who taught DADA with the ‘assistance’ of a boggart. McGonagall is an awesome teacher but she’s very strict so best not to step out of line with her. Snape is a big introvert just like myself and we have yet to see why while we got to know him until later on in the series with Lily. [go aww] They also are the professors that I would go for help if I needed anything. :]
My Best Friends at Hogwarts
I just peeked over at Black’s post today and that is a very fine thing to discuss about: Life lessons. That will be incorporated into my blog in all due time. :]
As for this post today: My best friends at Hogwarts. I don’t think I would survive through my school years during my middle/high school years without my friends. So this will be kinda split in two questions. If Hogwarts was a real school (I WISH it was! lol); Jo, Valerie and Shelby would be my best friends. The reason why I picked these girls because they’re Slytherins. Slytherins aren’t known for being friends with other houses…naturally. I’ve known the first two girls from my school during my childhood/teenage years. Johanna aka Jo and Valerie. Valerie is two years above me and Jo is almost two years below. I only wish I was close to Jo during our reign at school. Shelby, I recently met her through my brother, Duel, and she’s so adorable! Plus she was placed in Slytherin… Woohoo! :]
However, I was introduced to Harry at the same age, age eleven, he went into to Hogwarts so if I was a witch myself at the same time Harry entered school then my best friends would be Draco, Pansy and Theodore. (that is if Pansy doesn’t try to ‘repel’ Draco every chance she gets. -.-‘ ) I grew up with Harry Potter for nine years with the books so I felt like I ‘belonged’ when I could get myself lost in this wizarding world reading J.K. Rowling’s every detail. :]
To be quite honest, I really hate the idea of picking an favorite “team” that originated with Twilight. Team Edward or Team Jacob. Really? [shudders] Like Stephen King once mentioned: ‘Harry Potter is all about confronting fears, finding inner strength, and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend.’ Ok, I’ll save this for the Day 22 post where I can elaborate more further about this topic. Ugh. Anyway, I would pick Harry over Voldemort because hello? Killing people for pleasure, not my cup of tea! 🙂 Fighting for goodness, count me in!!!
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
I couldn’t pick which movie I didn’t like (heart-wrenching) and I would have to pick this one, Half-Blood Prince, over the Order of the Phoenix only because Dumbledore died in the hands of Snape after Draco couldn’t kill him under Lord Voldemort’s orders. I kinda hated how it was arranged between Dumbledore and Snape but it had to be done. I love all movies but it was hard to pick one that I disliked.
Happy Friday the 13th! =]
