Day 41: Your Favorite Magical Beast

They can be found in the book of, “Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them” by Newt Scamander. It came with the other book called, “Quidditch Through The Ages” by Kennilworthy Whisp. I purchased them yesterday for the Quidditch team the other day and will have to do an update on that post real soon. :]

As I’m reading the book for today’s topic, I can’t stop chuckling at Ron’s scrawly writing throughout the book. Especially when it came to Acromantula. It is classified according to the Ministry of Magic’s classification as a five X’s which means Known wizard killer/impossible to train or domesticate (Ron wrote ‘Or anything Hagrid likes’). Ron put an extra nine X’s after the official five X’s so that would be a 14 X’s since he is terrified shitless of spiders, small or big. [chuckling] Oh, his face when he met Aragog. Truly priceless. [laughing]

Oh, I should explain the Ministry of Magic’s Classification for this book of Fantastic Beasts-

XXXXX (Five X’s) – Known wizard killer/impossible to train or domesticate.
XXXX (Four X’s) – Dangerous/requires specialist knowledge/skilled wizard may handle
XXX (Three X’s) – Competent wizard should cope
XX (Two X’s) – Harmless/may be domesticated
X (One X) – Boring

Yep. Now to my favorite beast or a couple? :]

Dragons – of course they’re my favorite. I’ve always liked dragons for as long as I can remember…fascinated with how they fly and breathe fire. They’re quite aggressive. Especially the females. They are classified as a Five X’s…No shit. :] In the book it mentions, ‘The female is generally larger and more aggressive than the male, though neither should be approached by any but highly skilled and trained wizards. There are ten breeds of dragon, pure-bred dragons are as follows: Antipodean Opaleye, Chinese Fireball, Common Welsh Green, Hebridean Black, Hungarian Horntail (the most dangerous dragon as we’ve encountered in the Goblet of Fire book/movie), Norwegian Ridgeback (as Ron wrote Baby Norbert), Peruvian Vipertooth, Romanian Longhorn, Swedish Short-Snout, and Ukrainian Ironbelly.

Phoenix – It is a bird that lives on forever…facing death, die in flames and reborn in its ashes.  It’s quite interesting to watch although it seems a bit tragic to watch it die. 😦 However, it is a beautiful bird. Classified as a Four X’s. A phoenix is a gentle creature that has never been known to kill and eats only herbs. Intriguing. :]

I like Unicorns, Sirens, Werewolves (that part kinda turned me off with Twilight but it’s okay by me), Sphinxes, Leprechauns, Hippogriffs, Fairies (at times), Centaurs, and the Basilisk but they’re not enough to be my favorites.

Basilisk probably would be one of my favorites if I could speak Parseltongue but I don’t so…they’re dangerous enough to kill me without control. Basilisks are as dangerous to most Dark wizards as to aanybody else except Parselmouths, who can control them.
